83: A Legendary Location DONE!

Scout's Rest aka Buffalo Bill's Ranch, North Platte, NE. July 2013. We toured Buffalo Bill Cody's ranch with Chris's parents while we were on vacation in Nebraska. The mansion has been made into a museum that contains William Cody's family's stuff as well as a huge collection of Wild West Show stuff. I forgot to take pictures there for some reason, so I took a couple of pictures of Cook and Ama in our backyard with the brochure from the ranch, and stole some pictures from the internet. We were there, we really really were!

Here is a photograph of Cody with Sitting Bull. Basically, Cody was a very rich and powerful cowboy who toured the world with his Wild West Show, which was a riding and shooting showcase that traveled around the turn of the century, from the 1870's to 1908. The show toured Europe 8 times. It included cowboys and Indians, showcasing the American frontier lifestyle that was actually dying out at the time. It also had other foreign horse-and-gun shows like Russian Cossack shooters and Argentinian horsemen. The show made lots and lots of money and Buffalo Bill was quite a celebrity.
