36: A Sculpture Park DONE!
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden at Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN. September 2011. This sculpture garden is really awesome...it has lots of outdoor art and a cool indoor atrium area. The centerpiece of the park, the cherry on a spoon sculpture, was partially obscured by tents they were setting up for what looked to be a super swanky party, but it was still really fun to walk around.
The atrium has a giant room with palm trees, a huge glass fish sculpture, and 3-d artwork embedded in the floor. There are also lots of weird plants and walls made out of vines. It's very hot in there on a sunny day. We needed ice cream afterward.
The kids seemed to most enjoy the interactive art. Things you could climb on or through. This swing sculpture was really cool. All of the giant i-beams moved slightly in order to allow the wooden platform to swing.
