66: Backstage of a Theater DONE!

Open Eye Theatre, Minneapolis, MN. July 2012. We went to see a puppet show on my birthday at the Open Eye Theatre. One of the really cool things about this theater company is that in addition to putting on plays in their actual theater building, they also do traveling shows that people can host in their yards - they said that they did over 100 backyard shows this summer! My favorite part of the play was the accordion player, who did all of the background music, theme songs for individual characters, musical numbers, and sound effects for the entire show - he was astoundingly talented!

Cook and Ama both didn't really care for the play itself, but afterwards the actors brought out the puppets and let the kids touch them and see how they worked. We snuck around to the back of the mini stage to see what it would feel like to control that many puppets and props. It would be hard, not to mention putting on an entire show that you can't see with your eyes because the action all takes place in front of a curtain. It was a fun day! Thank you, Chris, for finding it and taking us to it!!
