47: A Forest Canopy DONE!

Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha, NE. July 2013. We stayed for two nights at a campground outside of Omaha so that we could go to this zoo. Chris's parents were really excited about taking us there, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! It was way too big to see in one day, but we got through the aquarium, the desert dome, the nocturnal exhibit, and the rainforest.

The zoo has the largest indoor rainforest in the world, and you enter the building at the canopy level. The trail spirals down all the way to the bottom, where you can walk on a dirt trail through the forest. Along the way, there are cool shortcuts, hidden paths, waterfalls, overhangs, and even a rope bridge! There was a bat wall with a bunch of fruit bats flying everywhere, and Cook got peed on and I got pooped on. I guess that's what you get when you walk through a rainforest...
