64: A Stargazing Spot DONE!
October 2014. Spook Cave & Campground, McGregor, IA. We only had one night for this quick trip to Iowa for the kids' school break, so we splurged on the fancy cabin with the loft and bathroom - it was fun to watch the kids run around and make themselves at home, and both Rowan and Ama said they wanted to stay longer (Cook was excited to get home...teenager). We had a nice fire pit next to the cabin, and roasted hot dogs for dinner, then took turns lying on the picnic table looking at the stars. We could see the Milky Way and what we decided must be a satellite, and all of us except Chris saw a super bright shooting star!
Cook got the loft bedroom, Ama took the top bunk in the main room, and Chris and I shared the bedroom with Rowan:) Having a bathroom and hot water and a fridge (and wifi, Cook would say)...best camping ever!!
